situation

in Poland ?

During the One Arrival Training in Warsaw, alongside Anaelle Faventines, we moved through the city and engaged in a series of street conversations. Passersby were invited to respond to a single, open question: "Can you describe the current political situation in Poland?" The exchange focused on presence, perception, and the articulation of contemporary political awareness in public space.

★ Un bar mleczny ★(« bar à lait » en polonais) est un restaurant qui, durant l'époque communiste, proposait des repas à faible coût, le plus souvent basé sur des produits laitiers. Le premier bar à lait, appelé Mleczarnia Nadświdrzańska fut fondé en 1896 à Varsovie par Stanisław Dłużewski, membre de la noblesse polonaise. Bien que les bars mleczny proposent un menu essentiellement basé sur les produits laitiers, on peut également y trouver d'autres spécialités polonaises non-basées sur du lait tels que des omelettes, des céréales ou des plats à base de farine comme les pierogis. Le succès des premiers bars à lait incita d'autres hommes d'affaires à copier ce modèle de restaurant. Après la première guerre mondiale, des bars à lait apparurent à travers la majorité du pays. Ils offraient de la nourriture accessible et nourrissante. Ils se répandirent encore plus durant la crise économique des années 30 et la seconde guerre mondiale. Après la seconde guerre mondiale, la Pologne communiste nationalisa la plupart des restaurants. Durant les années 60, les bars à lait étaient un moyen de proposer des repas accessible aux travailleurs d'entreprises qui ne disposaient pas d'une cantine. Après la fin du système communiste, la majorité des bars à lait firent faillite et furent remplacés par des restaurants plus classiques. Cependant, certains furent préservés pour aider les habitants les plus pauvres. Au début de la décennie 2010, des bar à lait ont recommencé à émerger en tant que petits restaurants peu onéreux proposant cependant une nourriture de qualité. Certains bars à lait, en raison de leur emplacement, ont été victimes de gentrification et sont défendus par des groupes militants. Les bars à lait sont actuellement majoritairement détenus par le secteur privé, certains sont néanmoins subventionnés pour leur permettre de proposer des tarifs bas ★

Tufting is a type of textile manufacturing in which a thread is inserted on a primary base. It is an ancient technique for making warm garments, especially mittens. After the knitting is done, short U-shaped loops of extra yarn are introduced through the fabric from the outside so that their ends point inwards (e.g., towards the hand inside the mitten). Usually, the tuft yarns form a regular array of "dots" on the outside, sometimes in a contrasting color (e.g., white on red). On the inside, the tuft yarns may be tied for security, although they need not be. The ends of the tuft yarns are then frayed, so that they will subsequently felt, creating a dense, insulating layer within the knitted garment.

From September 17 to 21, the Latvian National Museum of Natural History will host the annual "Mushroom Exhibition 2025", organized by both museum specialists and the Latvian Mycological Society. The exhibition is often complemented by valuable mushroom specimens supplied by visitors. The foraging and use of mushrooms is a national tradition, included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. In its 180th anniversary year, the Latvian National Museum of Natural History continues to organize the Mushroom Exhibition, for which museum specialists are going to the forests to collect the most diverse species possible, and mushrooms will be arranged in different groups – edible, inedible, poisonous and protected. ‎♡‧₊˚✧ ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა ✧˚₊‧♡
